Thread: Garmin Drive 52 battery

This info is for people who have problem with new Drive models loosing charge fast.
Bought recently new with open box.
Very good GPS overall, very fast, intuitive, much better setting then previous nuvi models.
But it has inadequate battery for it's hardware. Not only that, but battery for this model is half thick that was on previous nuvi models.
I have noticed that without power cord it looses charge within 10-15 minutes, and it's 2019 model out of the box. When I looked at the battery, to my amazement it was al least two times thinner then previous batteries I changed. I changed a lot of batteries but all were more then 5 years old, not less then a year.
I bought after market THICK battery on ebay for $11 and changed it without problem. Now it stays charged very long, like it should be.
If you want to buy battery on ebay enter search "garmin 361-00056-50" or "battery 361-00056-50".
You will get results for nuvi 50, 55, but it will fit for Drive 52. Important thing is plug.
If you enter "garmin drive 52 battery" you will get nothing, because it's too new model for ebay parts, and on web search it's very expensive.
