    autovelox Cyclops POI doesn't appear on my Garmin Drive 52

    Hello,
    I am new to this forum but not new to Garmin tweaks.
    The Cyclops POI doesn't appear on my Garmin Drive 52.
    I have three other older GPSs on which it's immediately seen and works without a glitch.
    Do you know if Drive 52 has has extra protection in software?
    I have latest, I think it's 9.10.
    Thanks.

    @Smoothpainte
    Drive 52 has protected firmware which is also encrypted so cannot be 'patched' afaik. Other devices with MSV/GSV protection can be fw patched to use decrypted Cyclops files but if someone has made a firmware patcher for D52's fw it hasn't been made publicly available unfortunately.

    Thanks Butters,
    Appreciate reply and information.
    I have suspected something with firmware.
    Great model otherwise, very fast and intuitive.
    I am sad to part with it, because POI is very important to me.
    Best,
    Smoothpainte.

    @Smoothpainte. does NY have a lot of speedcam? If you really need it, I can probably convert the Cyclop to normal POI alert which should work with your unit. Not as slick as Cyclop but better than nothing.

    @asprin624
    When I bought it, it had 2019 maps and GPI file 298 MB.
    When I open that file with tool, the name was "History Channel Data".
    But it show up in unit Garmin Safety Cameras in about section and navigation choices, and was working when driving.
    After I updated maps (over 5 GB, 5.6 if I remember) it had new GPI file with the same name (History_Channel_2021.10), 372 MB, it has .gma and .unl files attached to it.
    History works but safety cameras disappeared.
    I have NA 2021.20 maps now.
    There is additional map folder with stuff that I never heard of, but not Safety Cameras.
    I have old, but very good POI-factory file that work without a glitch, but Cyclops POI doesn't.
    Thank you,
    Smoothpainte

    Ability to use data is not the same as allowing to use data. Your unit can handle Cyclops per specs. When you updated the unit, it must of voided the old Cyclops and require new license (.gma/.unl) to use the new one. And since there is no FW patch for your model yet, you can't use cr*cked version of Cyclops. Did you try using the latest Cyclops posted in the other thread?

    BTW, Cyclops data is less than one MB, not hundred's MB. What tool you use to see file as "History Channel Data"?

    @osiris4isis
    NYC doesn't have normal speedcams, but it has a lot of red light cameras and school zones speed cameras with limit 25 and 20 mph.
    I decided to get rid of this D52, because although I loved it at start, it's too much for me to swallow, not to be able freely install POI of my choice.
    I bought it new in box almost for nothing, and will sell easily on CL with profit.
    It's great GPS, but not for me, my tool must do what I want.
    I will buy another without such restrictions.
    I appreciate your willingness to make custom POI, but I really do not want to bother you, thank you.
    Also I don't consider Cyclops very slick. I have older POI-factory custom file that much better then Cyclops. I always have two files in my GPS and my old custom POI is very reliable. I use Cyclops mostly for school zones, which started appearing before corona virus almost weekly.
    Thanks again,
    Smoothpainte

    Last I checked, there is no restriction on making your own POI and using it on ANY Garmin units. This include alerts such as speedcam/schoolzone. But they don't behave the same as Cyclops or built-in map.
    I agreed that Schoolzone is cool to have (I wish Garmin allow the option of turning it off), and some Garmin models have them separate from being in Cyclops (they are part of map). My 2597 has it, one of the reason why I got that model.

    @osiris4isis
    I used PGFT_V2254_x64 to open the file info only.
    I need only general info, I am not a programmer.
    I used Cyclops for August 29 and only for US+Canada file is 409 KB.
    I saw there are two newest addition, but for me August 29 is good enough.
    Schools are closed and I doubt that new cameras installed during pandemic.
    Thanks
