Default 2589LMT - Keep getting same error on Updater

    Hi,
I am able to enter pre-boot mode and then start the Updater process with the 570.rgn file
Hopwever, it never really completes and gives me errors.
Can anhone help? Trying to unlock it to load unlocked maps.
    Thanks.

In your pic it seems that you've patched nuvi55_56 firmware. If that's indeed what you tried to load to your nuvi 2589 you were lucky not to have succeeded, it might have been hard-bricked.

    Thank you.
These are the files I used.

I have not unlocked any Garmin for a while now, just wondering if that is the current technique to use. Grab the GUPDATE.GCD, patch it, etc...
    Thank you.

I have no idea what is lurking in those files other than to say this from casual inspection: (i) V1.1 is an outdated version of big-bang's IMGPatcher; (ii) naming of RGN files other than by the safe convention of XXXX01000xxx.RGN is inherently dangerous (XXXX is the used firmware's 4-numeral HWID and xxx [not so crucial] is it's 3-numeral fw version w/o the decimal point). The central numerals "01000" direct Updater.exe to check the HWID of the device against the firmware's (XXXX) and if there is a mis-match to NOT flash and report 'no update available'. Flashing an RGN with <anyname>.rgn, e.g. 517.rgn or 570.rgn as shown in your pic, will force the flash and can potentially hard-brick the device depending on what fw is flashed to it.

Going from memory 25x9 nuvi has two different HWIDs as well, making the potential for flashing wrong firmware even greater as both have 'strong' protection so require initial flashing of patched firmware be done in preboot using Updater.exe and an RGN file, or, with patched fw_all.bin flashed by sd card.

My suggestion is to seek out the latest version of the patcher, ensure that the fw you're patching matches the HWID of the device you have then try again.
