Yes you are right, I remember I got 8-9 software installation (including software 8.8, a firmware for charger, and some voice, text, keyboard and help updates), and I first selected to install the firmware for the live traffic receiver/charger. Then since the device was not restarting properly, I went back to click the "install all" button. That probably attributed to the corruptions. I also re-tried several time using Garmin Express to do software update, hence, I got 12 GCD files in the .system/RemoteSW folder at this moment.

Accept the offer to re-load current maps as it seems you also have some corruption there too.
I have removed all files inside the RemoteSW in .System folder, and booted it. It still tells me there are additional updates that required restart. After restart, again I see that "Installing update files. This may take several minutes" screen with the green status bar. But this time the bar is shorter again then last time I deleted the gupdat.gcd file. The status is again stuck there and not moving. I waited quite a while and have to press the button to force restart. After restart the device prompted for Locale, language, and the usual license, warning screens and then the corrupted map screen.

I changed it to Mass Storage mode again and reconnected it to PC, there is no files in the RemoteSW folder now, and the Garmin Express now shows 9 software to update, including some kind of firmware, software 8.80 etc. I clicked "Install All". After disconnect and reconnect, the device seems restart in the start screen with Garmin logo, nuvi 25x9, copyright 2016, Garmin Ltd..., but then stayed in this screen, there is no sign of any installing upgrade, and it doesn't get into connect to computer mode either (which it used to do after reconnecting). The PC still recognize the device as mass storage, but Garmin Express has not recognize the device as connected yet, so it hasn't show any installation completed message yet. the RemoteSW folder now has 3 GCD files. I waited quite a while then I have to disconnect the device from PC and reconnect. Garmin recognized the device this time, and showing there are still 6 software to update, including software 8.80, alter text, traffic text, language text, keyboard, help etc. Seems the other 3 update .gcd files again got stuck inside the RemoteSW folder and didn't get installed.

My gut feeling is there might be another hidden installation .GCD file that stuck the update installation pipe, maybe it is that first traffic charger firmware I clicked to install and failed. Is there any other file folder I can look to find that installation, or anything else I can clean up?
