Thread: garmin edge 510 asia change language

Hi! I have an Edge 510 asia version that has only english and chinese language and won´t accept other languages even upon updating it via webupdater. Any fix for this? thanks

If the VPM voice file isn't supported in the firmware then it won't be recognized by the device and may even prevent it booting if you add it manually. You can modify the firmware to replace an unneeded supported voice with the one you do need provided you use the correct type of file for the device. Read this: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

The other way might be to convert the Asian device to US/EU firmware but that's only possible if they have matching PCBs and even then doesn't guarantee successful cross-flashing. Inherently more risky as well. Unless you're quite skilled in fw modding, best to just try adding the Portuguese voice support to the Asian fw using RGNVoiceEditor.

Hi Butters, thank you for the reply! Sorry if I was not clear, but it is the text language that is not supported. Garmin Edge bike devices does not support voice language, only text. There is any way to insert portuguese text language on the Asian Edge versions? thanks

Sorry, i've never used one of those biking device so i wasn't aware of that. You could try to manually add the US/EU device text you require if you can source correctly from an Edge 510 with HWID 1561. However if it's not compatible with your Asian device it may prevent booting and you'll need to load cure fw to remove it. This page is referring to the file you'll need i think:

Alternatively investigate the viability of cross-flashing as i suggested because if that's successful you can download all required files normally with WebUpdater or GarminExpress. Note the risk explained previously however.
