asking assistance - how to get a map of a different country to work on my Garmin GPS as i will be travelling there (in this case India) - i have the map already.

Probably no one's answered before because you didn't state which model GPS, there are literally hundreds of different Garmins. What is common to all of them capable of using a media card is that a map that has been officially purchased will work on the card in a Garmin root folder named gmapsupp.img (x:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img). If it's a free map or an 'unofficial' unlocked map it will also work with older devices like that, but in more modern ones it gets more complicated. If you need more help best state not only the device but also which map of India you want to use.
