Thread: Moving SD card from Etrex 20 to Etrex 20x - Can't Authentcate Maps

Hello,

I've just purchased a Etrex 20x to replace a worn Etrex 20.

I cannot see any of my 1:25000 UK maps Garmin GB TOPO PRO maps on the maps list and I get the Can't Authentcate Maps message when i start the unit.

I've done an hour long sweep on this forum and others and I cant work out whats up. the only fault in JaVaWa is "Error: segment codes from this file reside in other files. This will cause problems with routing and/or displaying maps."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Butters - I did see this I was rather hoping to do it without such means - I'll have a look into it however these are devices for work thus if the risk too high I'll leave it alone.

That was the wrong link I'm sorry, I didn't check properly. Your etrex isn't a protected device and you only need to unlock the map img files with gimgunlock. The thread has been removed but you can get get a download from this link:

Usage: Simply drag the locked *.img file onto gimgunlock.exe and wait for a few seconds and the map will be unlocked for use in other 'unprotected' devices. Make a backup of the original map img file before you start.

Try to.unlock the map using the latest map unlocker

Actually, even the very first version of gimunlock will work for his etrex because it has "MVS: ---" and "GSV: ---". Certainly latest will work for sure as well as original though for an etrex.
