LMT - Transfer to New Owner

I am looking at buying a 2nd hand nuvi 2689 (Australian) which comes with LMT.

Logically, the ability to update maps under LM should flow to the new owner of the unit.

Can someone please confirm that this is the case.

Yes, it is that the former owner clears the GPS of his Garmin Express account
