    That's correct. If there's not enough storage space in the internal memory of the device, you are given the option to place a microSD in the device and store the new maps there.

    Alternatively, if you do not want to use a microSD, you are also given the option to choose a partial map which will fit in the internal memory.

    What I did was get into the Developers side and changed the mass storage options and got into system and removed the gmapprom file and replaced it with the new one. Saved about 2.04gb of space. I just checked and everything is up to date. Showing City Navigator 2017.10 and software v8.20. This was through Garmin Express. Now I'm playing with the SD card. Jim
