What about the etrex 30x ? I mean has it openstreetmap for europe, do you know ? I saw that the maps one can buy are insanely expensive, many times more expensive then the gps-device if you want to cover a whole country.

Reason is that as far as I could see the screen of the 30x is smaller (2.2" vs 2.6") but has a higher resolution (240x320 vs 160x240) and the battery life is longer (up to 25h vs 16h). So if your eyes are good (or bring strong glasses...) you can see more with the 30x. You always want to see more info on the screen, it should be the size of an A4 paper and still fit into your pocket
And I also agree that the 60/64 series has more setting possibilities (much more) and takes longer to learn if you ever learn all settings, I still get lost in the menues of my old 60Csx.

West coast of Norway is incredibly beautiful and viwes can be stunning, BUT the weather has a standard setting of rain and anything else than rain must be seen as a bonus. Look at the weather statistics for i.e. Bergen and you will understand what I mean. But the weather is very local and a little east/south like Telemark can be more reliable since the prevailing winds are west and the first mountains take most of the rain. Good luck is the best travelling companion.
Thanks for the hints for norway. What you wrote about the 30x is very bribing to me, especially the long battery life. The smaller display hurts because my eyes are not that good anymore and i still don't have glasses because my doc says i shouldn't spoil my eyes to early or later i will walk around like a mole. Actually the magnifying glass is my best friend, i can use this then with the 30x
