1. The teasy is very popular as very basic level decision and so it is popular for this reason. Garmin is more complicated device for real usage to enthusiast and professionals (it have the powerful techsupport and warranty obligations what is not so bad if user use device severely). Especially you choosed the top model as garmin 64s for compare. I recommend to see a basic level of Garmin model with touch screen like eTrex Touch 25 or 35. This models are more convenient due to touch screen for beginner and people who use device not so often. Devices with buttons requires the some degree of muscle memory for quick and easy manipulation which comes with experience or these are suitable in very hard weather condition.
2. Garmin have got and use a quite wide range of maps. This is not so simple. Be ready to spend a lot time on forums like this. But my friend is saying: Maps in navi are the powerful reason for driving further than planned!
