I've an old v6.1 firmware backup.
If I copy it on the card, is there a way to upgrade both software and map to v8 ?

I just managed to update the software the maps remain at V5.
Mercedes is probably distributing the software V8 gradually by countries, it is probably not yet available in your country.
I think that's the reason why you still do not have the software V8 available. According to Mercedes the software update is free and supposedly forever. As long as the version fits on the 32GB cards !!!
I do not know if the availability is made by IP address or if something is analyzed in garmindevice.xml that gives you the indication to make the update available or not.Last edited by gaspar; 9th May 2017 at 10:00 AM.

1) No matter which version, they have to be an SD card (ID) that has never been placed in MB Download Manager. If it was already used in MB download Manager it probably will not upgrade maps.

2) If it is a purchased version of ebay, it probably will not upgrade maps. Almost sure that all SD cards sold on Ebay are clones, unless sold with a cover, brochure and sealed !!!!
There will be tons of buyers updating the same SD ID in MB Download Manager.
The ID can be seen on the Audio 20 CD and Garmindevice.xml and it is probably also with this ID that the SD card activates the livetraffic.
All SD / ID's are registered in the MB download manager through the vehicle's vin number. You can check when trying to recover the SD card through the VIN.
Note - ID is not the CID
