Thread: Garmin Map Pilot for Mercedes-Benz cars

Excellent thank you janjarac! I have the files and I am beginning to look into this now. I'm going to pickup an SD card large enough tomorrow so I can push the image and beginning digging with my own car. For tonight I'll just use a 16GB partition to get started. With all the help from our Gpspower friends on other forums, I'm sure it is a great place to gather some info. I highly doubt that they have a CID non encrypted (or at least hashed) but remember.... Everything's crackable. I think lollis right, we should be exploring all possible avenues. It's just the perfect side project to get started on. Thanks for the great starting point and I hope to make progress on the install.

Alright team, I think our best bet is to unlock the maps. CID modification is not easy and requires new hardware (which I think we would all prefer to not purchase). Also, I have no idea when/if a firmware file might drop so I don't want to create a dependency on the unknown. I'm exploring previous methods of map unlocks for Garmin. Although the Merc files are not packaged in similar methods, (it's not 1-2 image files, it's multiple .NDS files). The NDS files are just SQL lite DB compressed files. I'm looking to see if the innards of previous map files are similar. I'll keep you posted with any findings. In the interim, please add to this thread any leads that you all discover.

Hello, I'm new of this place.

About Garmin map pilot, my thought is:
NTG5 audio20 : this is the head unit of mercedes car, the SD card have to insert this head unit to run the navigation, when the SD card inserted to the new car, the CID of this SD-card will be write in to head unit.

Maybe we can use Vediamo(the mercedes engineering tool) to modify the CID value that stored in head unit and the head unit is locked to read only that original card.
I have Vediamo, but I don't own the car....so I can't try.
