Thread: Garmin Map Pilot for Mercedes-Benz cars

Just took the card out and ran upload manager.

Card got updated to 2.4. (according to the DL Manager).
Although car Unit still shows 2.3.


From the first investigation new file appeared on the card.

I XXed out my Car details, I hope you understand.
This file only appeared after the update.

Around 500MB got downloaded, I will diff old vs. new and post result.

Just analyzed the update.

So this seems NOT to be a Map update, seems to be more like bug fixes and voice updates.

I downloaded the untouched files from piotrscs (uploaded.to) by buying a 48 hour-Account. I have also a original card from MB buyed on ebay. This card was activated before, but i will try now if i copy the untouched files to the SD if it works. I hope that the all the well known CID from the original cards should work. I will post the results.

As the *.unl from the uploaded card will not be the correct ones (not generated with the CID of your card) this will not work.

From what we know so far when the card is inserted for the first time the *.gma and *.unl files will be read processed and then deleted
Also the GarminDevice.xml will be created during that process.

I assume that the *.unl files could be re-created with information from the GarminDevice.xml, however I have no Idea about the *.gma files.

I have downloaded published Garmin by piotrscs system
Someone already work in this version of the Mercedes C class car? If yes what is the solution?

So far, nobody was able to use a cloned SD card on another vehicle.
Also we know that a cloned card does NOT work on the original vehicle as the CID does not match.

I have an idea. The following program should be used, and see what the result.

This is exactly what I did, I did a raw copy of my own card and cloned it to anther SD card.
It did NOT work.

There is a simple explanation for that, the CID of an SD Card ca NOT be cloned.
With a raw dump you only clone all the partitions etc. of the original card.

The CID is unique on every SD card, hence even you create an exact clone of the SD card content it still won't have the same CID.

This is how Garmins protection is working since years.

Do you know where I could change the CID parameters of the program? Do you have a other idea?
