Can anyone help

I have a Garmin 2699, (European model) I travel to the USA I know the new protection in place blocks us down downloading map on SD cards (for now)
But if I buy and download off the offical Garmin site the North American map I know it will NOT include the Junction views etc.
So could I add these to the SD card after and would they work, Also foursquare poi file, basically all the extras (why do Garmin leave these off the download ?)

Lastly the 2699 is shipped with a GTM 70™ Digital Traffic Receiver , will this work in the US I see you have the GTM 60 and is subscription free or not,
I also have a GTM 36 Standard FM receiver which I believe I can use on the 2699 in that would be better to use whilst in the US.

Yes, all the additional files will work with the 'standalone' NA map purchased as download or on a card.

My theory is that they'd prefer you buy a new device localised for the area to which you're travelling.

Both GTM70 and GTM60 are dual [digital and FM] traffic receivers, the 70 being DAB/FM and the 60 Digital Radio/FM. I can use both GTM60 and GTM36 purchased in NA here in AU with a local Suna FM subscription [purchased or unlocked, both work], you can certainly add a purchased US/CAN FM sub to the GTM70, or to the GTM36 if it's also an EU model. The EU GTM70 cannot receive the NA Digital Radio signals of course. If the GTM36 is an NA purchased receiver then it'll work naturally. Not sure you'll be able to use unlocked FM TMC subs for NA on any recent EU units, but earlier units are ok: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
