The .unl contains code that unlock the "Locked" img. You may also ignore the .unl after you have placed a unlocked img

You may do so, but at possible peril. Old unlock and gma codes for an earlier map may sometimes interfere with the correct operation of a later version map even if it's unlocked.

Best to follow catymag's advice. Back them up along with everything else and then remove them.

You can almost certainly add a map for another region named gmapsupp.img provided it does not overlap your current map as a different version. I'm unsure of the naming conventions for your unit specifically, but you could try the naming conventions from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which are quite generic. I'm unable to discern files and folder names in your screenshot, but as a modern unit it may also support a folder named Map. If so, you can use '<any_name>'.img in there for multiple maps, e.g. CNNT_Indo.img; CNNT_SGMY.img etc.
PS: G'day again neighbour. You seem to be branching out quite considerably from your SP2720 in moving to playing with in-car nav units.
