I did not want to clone my unit , I just wanted to remove the "african " status as everytime I go to the garmin web site ,I am only offered African updates .

I thought that if I purchased a Euro Map ,it would then be recognised as such & enable regular updates with the relevant JCV files .
I can install Euro maps but then It is a real mission to locate the correct JVC files every time...

So I suppose that Garmin updates just read the unit ID and decide what it was originally sold as ? and then offer updates accordingly . this is what I wanted to get rid of .
