I tried your suggestions. the 3790 still does not see the map. But the strange thing is, the same map image worked fine in 265 and 765 units. If it is locked, then it should not have worked at all.

Do you have any other map in your Nuvi covering the same region ?
Is the map in Nuvi map list?
May you post a screen of your folder in sd showing the map file (extensions in Windows enabled)
and possibly its Gmaptool log ?
