Map Updater Fails when installing NA 2012.10

The latest Map Installer "GarminMapUpdater_v2.6.11.exe" fails on final step when installing to the NUVI 3790.

I've tried several times after computer reboots and NUVI Restarts.

Step 1 (Downloading Maps) completes properly, Step 2 (Preparing Maps) completes, but when Step 3 runs for a few seconds I receive the error:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If I select the Option to "Install to the Computer", the MapUpdater program installs the Map into the Mapsource Program

It is the "Install to Device" Option that fails.

Has anyone experienced or better yet solved this problem?

I've got a similar problem with nüvi 255.
The problem was that the last update in 2010 did the update in gmapsup.img instead of gmapprom.img. So I lost a lot of space with 2 maps. All Traffic was shown, but not routable... But Anyway... i renamed booth files and installed the whole europe- map on the micro-sd-card. The new map sizes 2,2GB, but Nüvi have only 1.4GB space on the internal flash. Now it works perfect.
