Does Asus Nuvifone a10/m10 GPS navigation works also without phone sim card?

Does A-GPS equire a SIM card to be valid for given network or is the AGPS data just a free stream from GSM providers and works with or with whatever SIM?

Or does A-GPS require a paid data transfer connection?
That means may not work with prepaid SIM card in abroad and requires in abroad GSM roaming support, with high price rate.
