The firmware used was probably for a 4.3" widescreen GPS instead of the 3.5" screen for your 205. It's very dangerous--could potentially brick your GPS--to be messing with the firmware if you don't know what you're doing. Even if you had selected a 3.5" firmware version, there still are different firmware versions for different hardware revisions for that particular 205 model (distinguished by their HWIDs), and they're not interchangeable. I've no experience messing with a GPS's firmware except via Garmin's WebUpdater, but you can try reading through the following thread for some possible answers :
