    @babj615

    If this is not a secret, what do you want the locking for?

    A map project I have hundreds, if not thousands of hours into developing over many many years....

    Turns out locking maps is easy - It is done at the time of compiling.

    @babj615,

    Lets say you do 100 maps locked to a GPS unit.

    Then the GPS Unit stops works for some reason.

    Now you have to unlock these maps so you can use it on another GPS Unit.

    The same holds true if you setup a GPS unit for someone else.

    The person will just unlock the maps and use it where they want to.

    When you look at all the tools out there to unlock.

    Or am I not understanding what you want to do???

    While Honest people will not do this, Dishonest people will.

    I have been developing/testing multiple methods of tracing unlawfuly pirated maps back to the original owners with 100% success rate.

    These users can be reported to appropriate authorities.

    Garmin locking method is very easy. It is changed A one opened flag is changed and info about levels is decoded with FID. If you got small knowledge about Garmin format you can see it by comparing locked and unlocked map. All that you need for reverse engineering to lock it is changing byte of the flag in HEX plus lock the level info in TRE section.
    Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
