When updating some gps units with new topo maps you usually need to do some "typ" work in order to have the maps to look good. Unfortunately the same typ file does not always work good for every gps unit even if you want the same parts of the maps visible, i.e. for cycling.
Updating a Garmin Edge605 with the topo map FriPro v3 (Swedish topo map) proved to be very difficult to get acceptable result until I found a possibilty in the TYPWiz2 tool that was not directly obvious so I would like to share my experiencies.
The best I could get at my first try was this where elevation curves and water streams became very broad even if they were set to 1 pixel wide. The view changed randomly when zoomin and paning also.

The same part in Mapsource looks like this and this is also how it looks in my 60CSx and nuvi660.

Curves and streams are "polylines" in TYPWiz2 and you can set their width, colour and other attributes as well and all seems good in Mapsource.
However I found a button labelled "Convert to Bitmap" when selecting i.e. a elevation curve under "Polylines" and that made the trick for the map in the Edge605 !

That made the difference between an unusable map and a map with excellent visibility.
I have not noticed any noticable delays or slower rendering when using this "bitmap" setting so it seems to be a good solution in this case. I have not read all documentation (and have not understood all I read) but to me it seems a little strange that a Polyline could be bitmapped. Is not a polyline a vector with start, stop and attributes?
Anyhow. problem solved thanks t TYPWiz2.
