Yep, I use the official installer for 14.1.7 build 043013, which installs and launches successfully. But the supposedly "*******/packed" exe shared in post #115 immediately crashes. So far, I can only blame the executable packer for this crash to desktop.
Anyway, 14.2 is just around the corner now.

Don't forget that Global Energy Mapper can also be patched.
Patch global_mapper14.exe (from Global Mapper 14x install) then rename to global_energy_mapper14.exe
Tested as working with Global Energy Mapper v14.2.0 - May 13 2013 20:40:52

Almost everyday, the author, published a patch of "exe", correcting bugs.

The new patch that the Russians have created is very similar to what we came to apply for the past months. In principle there should be no problem.

I was referring to the program not the patch but yes I also patch new updates almost daily. The patch will probably stop working soon enough on an update and I want to have the the latest patchable (is that a word?) version (of the program) still operating perfectly.
