That has always been that way nothing new with these policies......

It seems to be normal these days, a 3 years old smartphone ?
All Smartphone and Tablets and Head Units companies only offer a Android version updates for the life of the unit.
They will give you security updates a couple of times.
You can see in the specs of what ever new unit you want.
Most cases they clearly post what you get depending on the unit you buy.

    Examples of smartphones:

    Spoiler: Samsung Galaxy A53 128GB Black 5G
    EaNKXRk

Spoiler: Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro 128GB Black 5G
    PE5YIBI

It all comes down to how much you want to spend and what type of offer you are looking for.

But android updates are limited because new apps offer more items and need more memory to run these apps.

Plus Google puts more and more security in to newer Android versions that require companies to update their apps.

Seeing the head unit you have has limited internal memory that would not support newer apps that need new versions of android including space and speed of the Head Unit.

So for you it is best to stay with older versions of app so you can still use your Hard Units......
