Not sure what you mean by "which one of the Maps"...
There's only one map. Latest version offered here is 6.4.
If you refer to the two downloads in post #171: the four links under the first spoiler are all mirrors for the same POI database (Places Of Interest). Choose the link that gives you the highest download speed.
Same for the four links under the second spoiler: they are all mirrors for the same map file. Choose one.
Note: usually zippyshare links provide the fastest download experience.
Hey you so damm right, now it looks like that, but i can`t test ist, can you tell me if it is right?
sdcard:
map/ i created this folder and put the Costa Rica NAVSAT 6.4.img in it
garmin/POI there i put Alertas_Version6.3_Español CamarasVelocidad_6.3_NAVSAT_ES RP_6.1.1_1203 in it.
Now what will be the next step, Can i put it inside and than? is it possible to have other folder like musik on the sd card?
Thanks for your help
regards Jonas
For the nüvi 1490, the road map file is correct in SD:\Map\Costa Rica NAVSAT 6.4 .img
It could also be in SD:\Map\anyname.img
For older models it must go in SD:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img
The POI files indeed go in SD:\Garmin\POI\Alertas_Version6.3_Español.gpi
and in SD:\Garmin\POI\CamarasVelocidad_6.3_NAVSAT_ES.gpi
Make sure you include the GPI file extension in the file name. I did not see that in your post.
Did i understand it right, that i put all the things in the right folders and i only had to put the sd card in the navi, what what did i have to do after that, sorry but i am from germany and my english isn´t the best
regards jonas

You're doing well, Jonas!
Indeed, as you described it, you have put the right files in the right folders.
You say you can't test it. In fact you can. Put the microSD in your nüvi 1490 and scroll the map to Costa Rica. Zoom in at any location (for instance San Jose) and you'll see the map shows more and more details as you zoom in further.
Some units are even capable of simulating a route. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if that also applies to the nüvi 1490. No time now to check, but you can find out yourself by checking the instruction manual. If capable, you could simulate a route somewhere within Costa Rica and that way prove for yourself the map on your microSD works.
On any 1xxx, from 'Where To?/View Map' main screen: Press Tools>Settings>System>GPS Simulator>set to 'Off'>OK. Then you can set your current location from the 'Where To?' icon [you have a 'Set Location' button now when you select a destination to make it your start point] and then you can select your final destination to navigate a simulated route. All nuvi series and most other routable Garmins are capable of route simulation but the method of setting the GPS Simulator varies.

Hello all,
Anyone have a new Garmin device? I just purchased a 2597 and cannot figure out where to put the map (and POI). It just will not show up in 'MyMaps'. I have an older 255 model and I got it to show up there. I just would prefer to use the newer device for my trip.
Thanks!
