It would appear that unlike TomTom devices Android apps for TomTom can't tolerate errors or omissions.
I just edited Homer's vif file in the voice pack that catymag pointed you to.
Schwan1's procedure is the best to try out any voice you want.
My own personal twist for speed testing is to just rename the "chk" voice file you want to try to "data00.chk", paste it into the voices folder overwriting the existing file, then select the Danish voice Brigitte.
