You can make a simple preview map from an image to install into MS using GMAPTool, but the hitch is that you won't have search functions: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
This is the note at the base of Post #1 in that thread:
Depending on what you're trying to achieve, a better option for you may be to just use BaseCamp as it can display images.NOTE:Remember this kind of mapsource installation wont give you search capabilities
From GmapTool Help: "Unfortunately GMapTool is unable to convert a MDR file form mapset into a format acceptable by Mapsource. Do not bind this file to Mapsource, it will not work properly."
