I took the 3760 back and got a 3790 so I now have 3D.
Hi I just bought a Gamin 3760T and I have been reading that it can be converted to a 3790 with the right firmware. I have tried loading
different firmwares and I have the ASR Features Working ( I have firmware CHN v 2.20 ) but no 3D Maps ( No 3D building or 3D Dem ). I was wondering what the best firmware is for the 3760T and also where can I get it. It seems that Garmin has removed the links to the old firmware as most links I have tried seem to go to
a Garmin Web page.
Also if I have the correct firmware for 3D it seems there are some files that need to be loaded onto the GPS to be able to view 3D ?
gmap3D.img and gmapdem.img ?
Thanks.

Oh well you've changed it now. You could have saved a few bucks though because 3760 & 3790 hardware is identical therefore you can convert a 3760 to a 3790 and enable 3D buildings, 3D terrain and Automatic Speech Recognition (you then only need to add the 2 extra maps and the ASR/SRX files to the unit): [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I assume you had a US 3760 and flashed CHN fw to it.
You do still have the option to convert your 3790 to a 3490 if you want to then enable addition features such as MP3 & Video Players: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], however you should read this thread too as there are some 37>34 converts which exhibit unacceptable satellite accuracy after conversion: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Post in the existing threads if you want further info or help.
