First Unlock individual .img and make sure it works by itself (test address search and POI search)
Then Use Procedure from Post #1
I have Joined several European Countries together to make my own custom MAP and it works good.
If you try to use Gmaptool to remove some tiles you lose address search.

    Hi,

You can merge all maps you want : the only limit is that the resulting .img file can't be over 4 Gb to be read by your GPS.

Does the 4Gb max size restriction also apply to Basecamp?

The 4 GB limit results from the FAT32 format of the memory card.

Thanks, there must be some other reason why it doesnt work then. I am trying to join some of the new GB Ordnance Survey maps:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
GMapTool creates an .img file, but Basecamp doesnt read it and I get the following warning multiple times:
== Warning: repeated map ID number.
I wonder whether that is because the maps overlap. Does anyone know how I can join these files?

Yes you have overlapping tiles, there are some tiles with the same MapId.
Resulting .img, even if you remove overlapping tiles, would exceed 4 Gb, so not possible to use in GPS and to be displayed from SD in Basecamp.
