I've found that on AU sold 1xxx devices, there were variants of FID 900 and 2496, and surprisingly, non-encrypted versions of AUSTRALIACYCLOPSSAMPLE.GPI as well.

On 3 US sold devices checked (1490, 1450 and 1300) there were no sample cyclops. All instead had 006D135900.gpi which is Airline data (MSM_Airport_v31) with IDs 0, 0, 0, 3. Not in a POI folder, but directly in .system.

FID 2496 was in negligibly small quantity of device. I am a little know a programmers. They never modify old software without substantial reasons. Map update is beginning from 2200 FID and GMA check was reality. When FID had reached number of 2496 the stock of 1xxx was negligible. Why Garmin must to bothered about it?!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

Maybe you misunderstood. I wasn't suggesting in any way that they should be 'bothered' about (doing) it. I was only curious as to why they bothered not doing it when they enabled GMA protection in fw of 2xx and 1xxx for maps. It would have been simple to do both at the same time.

The one example i found of an unencrypted sample file on an AU 1390T is a curiosity also, and i wonder what their thinking was there too? [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It's the only Cyclops gpi file that i've seen where GPFT says "File is not an encrypted GPI !"
I'm betting Giomen has an opinion.

On a more productive note, this is what i've found so far:

Models where JM generated unlock codes work with 700, 900 or 2496 FID:
    2xx, 3x0, 465, 5x0, 6x0, 7xx, 8xx & 1xxx series.

Models where JM codes work only with 700 or 900 (2496 won't work):
xx, 2xxx & 3xxx. For those and related devices change FID 2496 to either 700 or 900 and add unl code, or simply unlock the file. Use PGFT.

    2. Garmin Keygen v1.5 + CF.jpg illustrates the process of the .unl file generation for a Map product, but instructs to press Generate button for a Software product. Why?

    I thinking 1 second

If you takes 6min to thinking why you not delete them with 1sec if you not need them?

UnLocked maps not need them like post say..............but i have my reasons

if you make this hard work with uploads and want keep all link live you need premium account for it.
file must be over 3MB i got 10 point if 10 people download it i need theses point 10000 to 3 month account

so my explane is, just tiny tiny support to collect point.....
if im lycky i got points for next 1 year account. and if some thinking i earning somenting with this... you are not right

i have maybe 1000 or 2000 GB maybe more files in servers and not want upload them again and again.
if some one want test it by self there is not any reason why you cant to test it by self.

my links is die only if i do it by self.... and these files is not only for garmin users i do many more thinks too.

so one again i collect points. why someone think i need pay my account by self to share someting to someone who is somewhere in antarctis and ever seem him ? do you think im happy next time when i upload someting if every day someone cry here slow speed or too large file (ok it is 3MB and takes many day to download it... and maybe takes couple bon bon too to waiting time)

    sorry again my arabic

Since i'm too far from all this stuff (i mean collecting points, bonuses, coupons etc.) such an explanation was not self-evident to me. Sorry if my post seemed to be insulting or offensive.
