I don't understand what ASR support has to do with different hardware and different OS. ASR is just data. Those differences don't prevent various devices and programs from reading IMG files, for example. The only problem could be if ASR files contained portions of ARM processor instructions inside. But both 8xx and 7xx are ARM devices, so no problem here.

Also, as I understand, mullerh isn't asking about porting 8xx firmware to 7xx hardware (it's going to be very hard, if not impossible, due to those differences), he is asking about enabling ASR support in 7xx firmware. And it's impossible for us for sure, as 7xx firmwares don't even have ASR string inside, therefore, ASR support functionality is not present. And Garmin isn't going to add this trendy feature to this old device (which is already sold and doesn't bring any profit) and make the customer value of newer shiny devices lower.

Sorry, mullerh! I thought what porting ASR support from 8xx firmware (or software from other Garmin device) to 7xx hardware is not so easy. I also thought if devices have a different hardware and a different OS it is total nonsense to try porting software. This is equivalent to the creation of the software with a clean sheet. I was wrong! As say Kunix - so no problem here.

I activated ASR on 3760 with small patch from this forum. It was just a few minute affair. I think Kunix help you to add the Speech Recognition files from an 800 series nuvi to a 700 series Nuvi and activating that ASR feature in the 700 series easily and unconstrainedly.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
