That 1.36GB could explain your basemap and preloaded US map missing from your .system folder as shown in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you copied it before you deleted it or if you have a backup, have a look to see what's in it. It's a fair bet the time & date of the .CHK files will coincide with you having not safely removed the nuvi from your pc, or an aborted update attempt through WebUpdater.
All files likes *.chk and FOUND.000 is recovery copies of file system. If you do not want rescue it content you may delete it without doubt!!!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
Usually if you have *.chk or FOUND.000 files on your PC it may be an early sign of Hard Drive Failure.
So what do you have in your Nuvi's Map folder, apart from those cx's, India map and any other maps that you have added? Is your preloaded North America/US map or only your basemap in there? Because i think your NA/US map may be the source of all those little .chk files. If you have no basemap in the .system folder, the only other place it could be on the nuvi itself is in the Map folder.
To my knowledge nothing inside my nuvi, except for those basic folders. INside Extra\GPS folder I have a gmapsupp and a gmapsuptn., and system, GArmin, and GPX folders.
Is there anyhthing else for nuvi 1300. I have enabled all the features, got my language guide (I'm only getting English to - french, Italian, german, spanish, portugese) For more languages? And anything else to be fiddled with?
TIA

OK.. unfortunately this is not making any sense to me & i know some of the history of your 1300. The 'Extra\GPS folder', where is it on the unit? Did you add it at some point? Maps on the unit should only be in either '.system' or 'Map', both of which are root folders. If you don't have a 'Map' folder (it doesn't exist usually you create it), your base & detail maps must be in .system, but i've seen [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and neither base nor detail map are in .system or they would show as 'Basemap' & 'PROM 1' respectively in Inventory. So where are your 2 preloaded maps ie: gmapbmap.img (basemap) & gmapprom.img (US lower 49 States) and came with your US purchased 1300? Don't you have a 'Map' folder? Are you saying you only have map images in the 'Extra\GPS' folder named gmapsupp.img and gmapsup2.img?(my emphasis added). 'gmapsuptn' is a typo & you meant 'gmapsup2' i'm thinking . You need to post some screenprints of your nuvi root folders, and of any folders both on your nuvi & sd that have maps, expanded to show files so we can see what's going on and make sense of this. Connect your nuvi via usb and do a windows search on it & sd for '.img' first to see where the maps are.

I have a Nuvi 36A. Can I remove gmapbmap.img from my GPS? Thanks!
Sorry, I have a Nuvi 360A. Not Nuvi 36A. Can I remove gmapbmap.img from my GPS? Thanks!
@birdjay
Don't remove gmapbmap.img, because that is your basemap (garminmapbasemap. You unit won't function correctly without it. Read up here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and particularly this thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and this one: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Post #3), and also read Post #1 of the current thread fully, taking particular note of catymag's warning:Please don't post any more basis questions until you've done a lot of reading.Please only delete the files recommended. Do not delete any other files or you may corrupt the software in your nüvi
