This may help others.
I have modied many nuvi keyboard files to:
QWERTY, Upper case only, reversed etc.
The attached QWERTY file works on my nuvi 1250.
"en_US.kbd" is stored on the GPS in the \Keyboards folder. Please rename or copy the original file to say "en_US._kbd_original" for archiving.
Copy the the attached unzipped "en_US.kbd" file to the same \Keyboards folder.
Ensure you have the appropriate keyboard selected - from the startup screen:
Tools > Settings > Language > Keyboard > American English > Return (3 times)
