I can get it to work but there doesnt seem to be any routing functionality... Is this normal?

Yes, Topo Spain has never had routing. It's the worst Topo from all the Garmin products but it's the only one the've got for Spain :-(

Traditionally there's no routing in TOPO maps. Routing doesn't make much sense for mountain trails for walking by foot or by riding a bicycle and the TOPO product type is not targeted for automotive usage with routing.
I's however introduced routing in some of the TOPO products from Garmin and 3rd part map producers. Some newer TOPO maps even released with NT format. Making a map with NT format would ONLY apply to a Garmin map with routing. It's only the routing data that's compressed in NT format and a map without routing would in fact grow larger if they used NT format.

Im new to this.. I have a Garmin Oregon 550 with SD-card.
Should I download Img-file?
What do I need to download in addition to the map.. Mapsource? (what version)

Thx for guiding me.
Btw; going to Barcelona next, and will try some mountain-biking First time in North-spain

1: copy img file directly to SD-card
2: Download latest version of Mapsource, connect my GPS to it, and the transfer the gpx-files I wish to use..
3: Im ready to travel to Barcelona?
