    Use this link, find file Card_ID.rar, unrar, copy to SDCard, then execute it in WinCE and see txt how to convert it to valid CID number
    I tried it and it works fine. This is only one application on internet I found after weeks of searching functional CID reader :o)

    Apologies for resurrecting the post, but is there now a consensus to which software / programs will generate the correct CID?

    Yes I am well aware that using a nuvi is the most reliable method, I'm after that would work on either a eeepc 2g (not sure if sd reader is usb bus connected) or a pocket pc ipaq or similar.

    Cheers

    Is there any other way to close the diagnostic menu (after having found the SD card ID number) apart from switching the unit off and back on again?

    Edit:
    On my nüvi 250W I have found an "Exit" button on the first screen of the diagnostic menu:

    nuvi250w

    On my nüvi 350 though there is no such button. Hence the above question.

    Hi ,

    If I have a partition ID of a kingston micro sd card using ID Extractor of 0403-0201 is there and easy way of converting this into the 10 digit decimal code for use as the cards unit ID.
    Windows calculator does not work as the partition id starts with a 0

    Thanks

    Reading on elsewhere this is not going to work is it, CID is the way

    Hi Everyone,

    I have managed to get into the diagnostic menu of my Edge 800 using the following method:

    Wrench -> System -> GPS -> View Satellites

    Touching and holding the upper left corner of the screen brings up the diagnostic-screen.

    However I don't see any option to run checksum. I assume the ESN number is the ID of the EDge, not the SD card?

    Seems like the CID for Sandisk & KIngston MicroSd cards are printed on the front, although you will need a bright light & some sort of magnifying glass to read them.

    The Sandisk CID is a straightforward 10 digit number, however the Kingston appears in the following format (letters & numbers changed):

    1036sg293f

    Any idea how that would translate to the 10 digit CID?

    Can confirm the Sandisk works perfectly, but am still stumped with the Kingston, if anyone can shed any light on how to decipher the above number it would be much appreciated

    Having Re-read the entire thread several times I 'm afraid I'm none the wiser.

    The actual code on my MicroSd reads: 1048RF3293F

    I've tried dropping the "R", the only non-hex character, & entering the remaining string into a hex/decimal converter, both as is, & reversing the 2 digit pairings (i.e. 3F29F34810), the results are as follows:

    1048RF3293F = 69943372095 (11 digits)

    3F29F34810 = 271286749200 (12 digits)

    Can anyone please explain where I'm going wrong?

    Alternatively if anyone can point me to the checksum function within the Edge 800 diagnostic menu that might do it

    No Luck?

    Oh well, hope some one finds the information about how to access the Edge 800 diagnostic menu & how how to find the apparently encrypted MicroSd card CID numbers useful
