Thanks, agreat guide and a very helpfull application specially when you dont want to pay for those pricey data plans outthere.
Hi
This is probably the best instructions I've seen to date.
My Garmin XT is installed on a Nokia 5800. I have the latest maps etc, and it works well, exept browsing maps. It seems to freeze up when scrolling through the map view.
Any sugestions.
Also, is it by any means possible to connect the phone to your laptop and use something liike mapsource to see the navigation on the laptop itself. You can then navigate on the laptop with Garmin XT attached via usb. this is proferable when we go off the tar in a group and we want to navigate as we go. The big screen will be so cool..
thnaks

Thanks for appreciating my work-
Have you installed last version? probably no, the last version corrects that issue I think, btw I'vent tested on 5800 yet, I'm waiting garmin multilanguage official version, the one posted is Taiwan version.
You can install Garmin directly on your lap, you'll find garmin for pc in navigation softwares section

Thanks for an excellent guide, had it all installed and working in about half an hour.
Got the full UK map from the maps section and that works great as well.
Thanks again,
Darksidechris.
i cant change to internal gps on my N97. i did up to step 5 using the UNL creator but there is no option to change gps device to my N97 gps. I selected Garmin Mobile XT for Software Product and City Navigator Australia 2008 for Map product in the Garmin Unlock Generator, is this correct?. is there anything i should try differently?
EDIT: I had the 2 UNL files in the wrong place.
how do you set it so that the map is the real thing like on google maps, not just lines and stuff
Bump...........

First of all...thanks for the guide...it is perfect...works like a charm!!! I have used it many times, but when it came to my Phone Nokia N82...ooopss!! I encountered some problems. After installing Garmin XT v5.00.50, basemap and support files I can launch the application and i can get the Card ID. I exit the application, generate the sw.unl with the previously obtained card id and after that I copy it to the garmin folder on the card. When trying to restart the application it just flashes the screen (i dont get the garmin splash screen) and wont start again. (not even after restarting the phone). The whole Garmin XT is blocked or gets blocked when initializing. What am I doing wrong? The thing is I have installed Garmin XT numerous times using your tutorials without any problems. Thanks again

The whole procedure you did is correct
The SW.UNL is it in Garmin folder?Coz if you can launch the app before putting it in your phone may be it can be that. Remake it and if garmin doesnt work yet try to reinstall ,may be something went wrong, remember to delete old Garmin folders in your phone before reinstalling and remake the unlock file and to run the sisx on your phone before trying to open garmin app, at the end shutdown and restart.

Thank you for the answer catymag. You do a great job. So, all the files and everything else are where they are supposed to be. Before installing I cleaned everything garmin on the phone + mem card. Yesterday I managed to install Garmin XT international 5.00.60 all in one. I got it from another post. I installed it and ran it. Everything worked just fine (including GPS signal from internal GPS), until I uploaded the maps. I started it and when I tried to browse the map it exited the program and never worked again. The only think I managed to do was to enter the running processes of the phone and stop the TSRAutoStart.exe. After that, when I start the GXT, I get the Garmin splash screen and that is it. The program stops working. Are there some issues I should know about Garmin XT on Nokia N82? I know I am doing good in using the tutorial as I have installed it so many times on other phones. Thanks again and keep up the good work!!!
may I know which maps?
look at this thread

no issues on N82, I searched with google too, on ebay you can see N82 with garmin installed
dont disable TSRAutoStart.exe now with new versions is already fixed, if you disable the app doesnt work
TSRAutoStart.exe now CLOSES automatically when you exit GarminMXT v5.0.0.x0
