We are running now with 450,000 + less members and I have been working on since the Spam Attack and has taken Many hours per day to do all this, and anything to do with Sysop is out of my control.

    Hey Mags,

I use only Linux systems, and the issue only happens on this site, first with the whateveritwas that prevented people from viewing threads by not allowing the scrolling down, and now with advertising shown behind spoilers instead of images.
Nowhere else on the web have I seen this happen, only here.

My daily system (MX-Linux 21.3) I normally visit the site with is clean, I am 100% sure of that.

But just to be even surer, if that's possible, as a completely unbiased and independent test, I'm currently viewing and posting this from the latest release Debian 12 Bookworm operating system, running from the live USB.
The SHA256 on the live USB's ISO download matched so it's guaranteed to be clean from malware, viruses or any other form of scumware.

When I go into my profile and click "Find Latest Started Threads" I get an ad from JustAnswer (originates from google) pops up and takes focus not allowing me to click anything else until I click Cancel on it, then it shows my latest started posts.

And when I view my UX request thread, I see this:

    Spoiler: screenshot
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The same intrusive advertising garbage instead of the image that should be displayed.
And the fact that I'm running from a live operating system guaranteed free of scumware seems to indicate that this intrusive garbage is coming via this site.

Boki mentioned above "P.S. We do not determine the advertising policy "

And you mention "anything to do with Sysop is out of my control"

I understand this, and believe it's how these advertising grubs get away with pushing this unsolicited crud on people.
If you guys had control over this I have no doubts you'd put a stop to the intrusiveness of it.
I'm not against advertising, I understand it's required in a lot of instances to keep a site running etc., but when it's at the stage where it's getting injected into threads behind spoilers preventing even the original poster from viewing images they posted in their own threads (which is what it does, I cannot view that image no matter what I try) then it's time whoever does have Sysop powers ensures the advertisers are pulled into line to prevent this intrusive behaviour.
    Do big things!

    Interesting
However, on no computer (private and business laptop + private PC) on the 4 different networks I use, a bunch of browsers (Opera, SlimJet, Brave, Chrome, Edge ...), I see no problems like this. I have a lot of friends who visit the Forum from Linux, no one has complained to me.
Again - we cannot influence the Forum owners, hope some of them are reading this.
Honestly, I don't believe that they will change anything because of one complaint, and why would they

It is strange I can click on many spoilers and see what it is but no Adds even turned off the Add blockers to test.
So I have no idea, even clicking on your spoilers nothing.
What happens when you click on Boki's spoiler?

Boki's spoiler works as expected, always has, as do some of the others, including the one in my post above that somebody apparently spoilerised for me.

Currently the one in Asprin624's post #7 above does not work with UBO on, it just changes the text on the spoiler button from show to hide when I click it.
Disable UBO and it works as expected I can see the image posted correctly.

Go back to my UX request thread and once again I see this:

    Spoiler: Crud

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

EDIT: In the Additional Options below when posting, "Require Likes To See Content" keeps checking itself when I want it to stay unchecked.
    How to keep it unchecked?

EDIT-2: Yesterday, when writing my post and posting with UBO turned off the advertising was getting in the way of everything, being even more annoying than usual.
Today it's nowhere near as bad, only showing 1 ad if I refresh the page with UBO off.

Ah is UBO "uBlock Origin " is not just an add blocker it does other things too it's wide spectrum junk.
Then get rid of it and try another coz is blocking your links.

Sorry, I should have used the full uBLock Origin name instead of an acronym.

It is not junk and I will not be getting rid of it.
I understand how it blocks things and that it blocks more than just ads, I also understand how to use it in advanced mode to have full control over what is allowed and blocked on a per site basis (local), and on a general all sites basis (global)
It is not blocking my links, but it is blocking the links to the scumware advertising that for some reason has found a way to replace my images.

This is the reason why some of the show/hide spoilers do not work for me when uBlock Origin is active, because it blocks the scumware advertisements that have somehow replaced the spoiler contents.
If I stop blocking those advertisements then instead of seeing my image as I should, I see that crud advertising, like the screenshots I've taken of it in posts #14, #11 and #8 in this thread.

Next time I post an image I might try a different image host, until now I've been clicking the "Add image to post" link under this reply box.
I've been using postimage myself for ages without issues, and whatever it is it's only this site it happens on, perhaps a different image host used on this site might make a difference...

So you won't even switch it off and just try an straight Add Blocker only?
I even switched off Malware Bytes Browser guard because it blocked some of my normal browsing sites that are OK.

From my previous posts in this thread.
Post #8 - "...with UBO off..."
Post #16 "...If I stop blocking those advertisements..."

I have tried with uBlock Origin enabled and disabled.
I have tried with Adblock Plus enabled and disabled.
I have tried with a live (complete operating system that runs from a USB stick) default Debian 12 operating system that is guaranteed to have no scumware.

The problem is not uBlock Origin, the problem is not AdBlock Plus, the problem is not my operating system, the problem is the intrusive advertising that is allowed on this site.

Just for the record, here's what happens when I remove uBlock Origin and use AdBlock Plus instead.
Viewing my UX request thread again.

First image is with AdBlock Plus on, exactly the same thing as using uBlock Origin happens, click the spoiler and the text changes from Show to Hide, no image appears because the advertising is blocked by AdBlock Plus.

Second image is with AdBlock Plus off, again, same as using uBlock Origin happens, intrusive advertising is now allowed and replaces the image that should be displayed.

    Spoiler: ABP on

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Spoiler: ABP off

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I tend to agree with Boki, the site's owners probably won't do anything about this issue because of only one complaint.
I sure won't be clicking on any of the intrusive advertising so they get revenue from it, and ever surer still I won't ever purchase anything from any of that advertising...

There is another possibility - browser itself. I stopped using Mozilla (due to some other issues).
Have you tried Opera or Brave? SlimJet is also recommended, imho.

Thanks for reminding me, I was going to try different browsers but forgot.
Currently using Vivaldi, viewed my UX request thread, same happens, block the ads and the spoiler doesn't show anything.
Don't block ads and the ad replaces the image that should be there.

EDIT: Same deal with SeaMonkey, block ads = no working spoiler, unblock ads = spoiler image replaced by crud.

EDIT:2 SeaMonkey crashed when closing after posting the above edit, possibly something to do with one of the 80+ domains that connect and do god only knows what when no blocking is enabled on this site.
