Hello!
A friend of mine is unfortunately missing the German keyboard and text files for his nüvi 55 after accidentally deleting some files.
I had recommended him to use the WebUpdater to install the following files on the nuvi and then reboot:
Nuvi55_56LanguageText_210.rgn
and
nuvi55_65Keyboards_130.rgn
However, this does not seem to work properly.
The WebUpdater reports "The Garmin device has been updated", but after restarting the device the necessary files "de-DE.kbd" and "de_DE.glx" and "de_DE_TRF.glx" respectively are missing in the folders "keyboards" and "Text" (de_DE_PRX.glx is present!).
What went wrong there?

Thank you very much! I will forward the files to him.
However, the de_DE_PRX.glx already exists. He would still need the de_DE_TRF.glx.
Was my advised procedure (installation of the .rgn files via WebUpdater) wrong?
Edit: The matter has been resolved. After a hard reset of the device, the WebUpdater offered the appropriate text updates.
But why the previous installation of the .rgn files with the WebUpdater did not work, I still do not understand!
Would a hard reset have been mandatory after that too?

It's best practice rather than strictly 'mandatory' to hard reset/[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] both before and after doing any software/firmware updates to avoid such behavior. It's certainly the first go-to "immediate action" if you experience anything weird with a Garmin or any other similar electronic device. In Garmin devices sometimes just a byte or so of corruption in it's non-volatile memory can cause what you experienced requiring a reset however sometimes just a restart which rewrites the GarminDevice.xml is sufficient.
