Thread: GPSmap 60CSX chipsets

I am sorry, but you offered only something which is publicly available.

I do have 60csx with an “X” in the name.

Garmin did use software versions 4.10 and 4.20 for these units with Mediatek chipset inside. If you wish I can send either references as posts from fellow users having 4.10/4.20 or a picture showing the system/sw info menu item of my device.

Garmin never published 4.10 or 4.20 as downloadable version on and from its website.

It is evident that some people were able to dump 4.10 and 4.20 from some 60csx or 60cx units, maybe 76 csx or 76cx, otherwise they could not modify or lets say patch these versions, either due to their need to “Russify” it, change the basemap due to their region etc.

It was like 10-11 years ago when these things happened, so it is not easy to collect either 4.10 or 4.20, moreover 4.10 was a buggy version.

It was my mistake that I collected a Russified version, I dont speak Russian and was not thorough in my English communication either, but a Russian forum was the first place where I was offered to get 4.20.

Garmin behaves a bit shameful.
Why?

They first stated that never prepared 4.10 or 4.20. Incorrect info.

Then they wrote that 4.20 was exactly the same as 4.00, which cant be true. See below.

Something is different between the versions, because one can downgrade any sw versions from the 2nd one till 4.00, but you cant do that from 4.20. Maybe during the attempt to flash, even in preboot mode, there is a check whether one’s unit has Mediatek chipset or Sirfstar and because units with MTK does not behave well with versions 4.00 or older, it is restricted to go back from 4.20 (OK maybe 4.20=>4.10 is allowed, but I could not test it).

Explaining everything to Garmin they cannot or are no willing to provide neither 4.10 or 4.20.


I guess I explained everything also here why I am hunting for 4.20 for 60csx.
