Default Nüvi 1490 electronic Component - solved

    Hello to all.

I am new here and quite happy about the existence of this forum. It helped me greatly with unbricking above mentioned Garmin. Otherwise I would have been absolutely helpless as I know nothing about this subject. Thank your for all this written help.

My problem now is, that when I opened the case (for ensuring complete shutdown) something fell out.

    Spoiler: unnecessarily big picture

    It says A35-8 on it.

Now, after formatting and restoring software and updating, everything SEEMS fine, except - there is no GPS-Signal.

Therefor my guess is it´s the receiver.

Is there anyone, who could provide pictures of inside a Nüvi 1490 so that I can see where this has go?
Of course any other helpful hint is appreciated.

Thanks in advance and Happy new year

Edit: I have looked with a magnifier for signs of where it could have been solded but found nothing.

This component fell out of the front cover, and it is the microphone. This does NOT get soldered in just push into the cover and when the unit is closed the contacts touch the PCB.

First fix of the satellites can take up to 20 minutes just be patient.

Many Thanks for your answer and help.
Now I could put everything back together.

Tomorrow I will have several hours on the road and a good chance of testing.
I hope it turns out to be only a matter of TTFF.

Have a good start into 2020 with lots of
