For the time being I drove a Renault Scenic with a built in Tomtom.
Figured out how to check the map version; 725.1882
Fired up my laptop and started my favorite browser to look for a solution.
    Found this amazing thread.
Dug into a drawer and found an unused 2GB SD Card which is the same capacity of the original one.
Copied the original SD Card content to my laptop. (always have backups)
Followed this manual and succeeded to create a working SD Card with Tomtom App version 8.843 and map version 1030.9524
Now I have also the IQ and ALG.
Fiddled around with some voices, photo's, cars and raster files.
Thank you so much for this perfect explanation !!
!! Keep up the good work !!

    Hi all,

    Thanks for all these contributions.
I have came here to search for a solution with friend's Carminat TomTom (I guess it is LIVE) in his Espace 2011. He has bought it with a message "SD card not recognised" or so. After he purchased a new one off ebay (official Renault dealer) for TomTom Live 11.05 259E92165R, he was prompted to accept update from 9847 to 9884. Update finished 100% OK, was not interupted, and it went into a restart of the device. After 4 seconds of a sandglass, Renault start screen took 34 seconds and when a normal screen with maps, radio frequency and temperature was expected, it just entered into another cycle with sandglass and Renault screen, forever. Nothing like pulling that and placing the old card made it come back to what it was before. I managed to bring it back down to 9847 using a new SD Card where the unit created a "new" loopdir (loopback.ex3 had a funny date 01.01.2000), it downloaded few files from TomTom Home 2.2, but not European maps, asking for some confirmation from the unit. Unit did not accept this change and is still in stuck in the bootloop.

I am not even sure if the first "original" SD card the car came with was really "official", was the unit tampered with... do not know what to do. We even disconnected the unit from the power for10min, but nothing improved.

Can you please help with an advice?
    Is this still worth fixing?

    Many thanks to all.
