You'll need to load cure firmware to get MSM back, reformat and then reload original firmware. Read the GarminCure3 thread I linked.

To go to the calibration screen, the nuvi 40 first has to be in preboot mode. It doesn't stay very long in preboot so have the cure firmware already loaded into Updater.exe before you connect in preboot. Read this thread too: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

PS: Kaspersky is very good but sometimes it will mistake very valid files as malicious. I only use Windows Defender in Win 10 now.
