Does it boot or is it stuck on the logo splash screen? If it boots, hard reset it and then see if it's recognised in MSM. Use a Win PC directly, not a VM in Linux to test it. Even XP is fine.
EDIT: Ok, just noticed your edit about voices. Many voices for US/EN firmware won't work for Asian firmwares. You need to remove them, or replace them with the correct Asian version, or edit the TWN fw to accept the US voice version. Have a look at the Tuts Index to get some specifics.

I am no longer using the TWN firmware, it's more trouble than it's worth. What should I do to restore the voices, i did everything we did last time, took out the old twn folders and replaced them with the us folders. everything else seems to work but the voices.
