.Yes, i do not remember, and it is not 'seems' - this is the fact stated in my previous post.
As for the streamers (storage devices on magnetic band of sequential access) - those seem to be of potential use of such units of capacity - Megabits.
As for the '60s - i do remember Gagarin's flight to outer space

Now, megabaud is sometimes considered synonymous with megabit per second because the first can refer to either 1,000,000 tones or pulses per second and the latter to 1,000,000 bits per second. The baud rate was generally the bit rate in some modems, but that's just not always the case with other more-advanced modems and advanced methods of data transmission. However, seeing you were around to witness [and still remember] Yuri's triumph let's just concede that one and give you the benefit of the doubt.

But, and it's a BIG but, the abbreviation for megabaud is MBd, not Mbd, even though 'baud' is written without a capital B if spelled out in full either singularly or with a prefix, e.g. baud, kilobaud, megabaud etc so a bit of a trap there too.
Be careful with the next post or you'll be on doggy-doo duty.

I'm really hoping G will weigh in with something i can tear apart now though ......
