What files do you have in /.System/GPS folder ?
Hi People!
I'm just installed according the Tutorial from giuseppe66.
The preliminary news is...............................GOOD!
In stationary posistion the accuracy was so much better. The signal power looks better as well.
The image below shows the satelite page with GPS from my windows home. Weather with some clouds.
With 37XX/34XX after Tutorial:

37XX/34XX before Tutorial:

Original 37XX:

Tomorrow I'll be back with the news about normal use on the road with GPS.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Albert Einstein.
Finally, i can sleep better at night
So then some file on nuvi (from old 37xx) create mess with satellite accuracy and when you delite all, after this is better accuracy.
Let me add my 50 cents to the issue again . I have followed the instructions, even make some more tests.
All I can say for now is that with that procedure accuracy of 3790 is in average 4 meters better than 3490 converted. I'm talking just for driving tests.
Standing still with clear sky view - no difference. Need more tests, but still they are not same.
What I have done description will follow soon, I hope .
Can 3490 still boot if we delete all files ?
1300 Can !

I have decided to make some more serious test. I have put my nuvi 37xx/34xx next to other reference device and logged satellite signal over about 20 minutes at each test. Then I have averaged signal value form logs. Here are results, blue is 34xx/37xx signal, red is reference:
My nuvi converted some times ago to 34xx, firmware 7.60
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Nuvi converted back to 37xx firmware 3.60
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Nuvi 37xx updated to firmware 5.00
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Nuvi converted again to 34xx 7.60
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I would say, that reception is better with firmware for 34xx.

@ Kanopus, Your's is working fine.
Not all converted Nuvi's show the "problem"
Only a few.

Actually I'm not satisfied with my nuvi performance. But I think it is hardware problem. Newer firmwares seems to be a bit better but there is nothing, that can overcome old hardware design.
today i've do 3 hours drive test. Accuracy is 4 - 8 along all routes. Blu bars are stable and another think is that car, for me, now don't jump. Caty's, if you think that this is a probable solution for poor reception, may you use our test and solution for your CONVERT tutorial?
If you do a drive test, why don't you register a log?
There exist diagnostic log, start logging in gpx format and then you would be able to analyze real precision of GPS.
