Default HELP - Garmin Nuvi 1310 Frozen and I cannot see it on my PC/ MAC

    Hi,

Now I'm not at all IT literate so please bear with me.

My Garmin Nuvi 1310 has decided to completely freeze and won't go past the "loading maps' page.

I've tried holding the top left corner of the screen. Doesn't work !

Tried connecting it to my MAC as a mass storage device but the MAC doesn't recognise it.

Downloaded Garmin Webupdater, but again my MAC does not see the device.

I've read on here that you can connect to the device using updater.exe but I'm not familiar with these types of programs and to be homiest I've also read that they can corrupt your PC/ MAC so a bit worried about installing such a program.

Bearing in mind my lack of IT knowledge could someone please help me try and get this thing working again?

    Many thanks
    Tony

Hi lolypop, thanks for your reply.

The unit has an SD slot but I don't have a card!!

I did read throughout the GarminCure3 tool post, however, not being very IT literate, most of it was lost on me!!

So, if I download the GarminCure3 package what do I need to do with it to get my device connected to it and then repair?

    Sorry for being stupid :-)

Ok, so downloaded and attempted to run the GarminCure3 program, but when I click on it, it opens a text box with loads of words/ symbols and at the top states "this program cannot be run in DOS mode"..

Download FW for your nuvi from here:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Then run garmun cure tool and create file for repair

click on updater.exe on cure tool window

put your finger in top left corner on your nuvi screen and hold finger on this place

with other hand connect nuci to PC

Now in updater.exe window you see nuvi 1310 and your ID

Click on USB beside 1310 and ID and click OK

    And updater.exe start working.

When procedure end your nuvi will conect to PC like before error.

Now format your nuvi to FAT32

When your done create original FW with cure tool and flash again in preboot mode.

if you need backup file for 13xx i can send it to you.

Hi Lolypop, I've managed to follow your instructions to the bit about formatting to FAT32.

This is where I'm stuck as I have no knowledge of how to do this.

Any chance you could assist again please?

    Sorry to be a pain.

Maybe you havn't got latest Garmin USB drivers loaded: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If still in trouble read everything i suggested above and then post in Cure3 thread with the exact error message or a screenshot: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
