"File" ..? Do you mean folder? If you have an older unit capable of using 3D building image files such as a nuvi 765, it goes in the unit's Garmin folder named as gmap3d.img.

Hi All. Sorry to show my lack of knowledge... but I have a Nuvi 765 and want to put the latest 2014.20 on it.
Exactly what files do I need to copy/replace onto the Nuvi 765 in order for it to work properly.
I assume I need an "unlocked" img of the map itself correct ? But specifically which JCV file works and do I need a new gmap3d.img file or others for my specific nuvi unit ?
I seem to recall you need a new version of each file that is compatible with each version of the maps.
Thanks in advance.

You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Can I just copy the unlocked img and overwite the old img, and leave the old JCV, 3D and TZ files intact ? Or do I need to copy all the new files ?
All the new files associated to new map:
1) mapset (CNNTNAm 2014.20==>gmapsupp.img or gmapprom.img)
2) gmap3d.img of this mapset
3) DxxxxxA.JCV of this mapset.
4) no other files for this mapset
Bye,bye
Hi Roger....
I am good to go since I have a gmap3d.img, D1279190A.JCV, and the "unlocked" gmapprom.img for CNNANT2014.20.
I should just have to copy and replace those files on the 765 and all should be OK.
I went ahead and deleted the old map on the 765 (which I had previously named gmapsupp.img) along with deleting the old gmap3d, tmz, jvc, and all the old unlock files.
I then copied the new 2014.20 files. I went ahead and named the 2014.20 map "gmapsupp.img" as that is what the old map was named. Note that I sort of recall I had deleted the original gmapprom.img and used gmapsupp as the map name several updates ago. I can't remember why I did that.
But when I booted the 765 up, I did get a message "Can't Unlock Maps". When I hit the "OK" button the unit booted up ok and when I check the installed maps in did show 2014.20 and the screen appeared top display the map OK. I tried re-booting a cpouple more times, and once again I got the "Can't Unlock Maps" message and hit OK and the map displayed properly.
So why am I getting that message and how can I get rid of it ?
There are no Unlock files on the unit and the only map on it is "Unlocked" so why does it say "Can't Unlock Maps" ?
