Very good advice BlindPete. Most users on Noeman would be aware of this but many inexperienced people with Garmins (that's the bulk of them) would put in their actual address. How do i know this for sure? Over the past year or so i've bought about a dozen or so garmin devices cheaply on ebay. Ok, some were bricked, but most were functional and should have been reset by the seller before they posted them. Guess how many were hard-reset? Hint: It's a big round figure.... Yep, 0!!! Guess how many had at least deleted their home location? Same same. Guess how many had used an actual address for home, not some nearby major intersection? All of them.
Moral: If you sell your unit, hard reset it or clear NV before you hand it over. Probably there are more units that get (legally) sold 2nd hand than are stolen. Probably most of the stolen ones get sold too of course.
Probably this advice and yours are 'preaching to the choir' as the ppl here are either experienced or about to become so. The ones who don't come here or similar forums will carry on blissfully putting in their actual home address, leaving their units exposed in their cars and selling their units with 'Home' still there.
PS: Nonetheless, i've given you Rep+ for posting that!
