hello
where to find firmware for Nuvi 240 ?
attached picture with details.
thanks
I make a bet on this horse: 006-B1947-00
nuvi V? M4v? 2GB 4GB 8GB 16GB DS DH DN DE DW D? 256128 C4 W4 A4 C5 W5 A5 W6 A6 L? BT MFi Em? RDS HD DABCode:Please Login or Register to see the links
It is sku=010-01526-00 and it is a mod of nuvi 2447LMT which be coded as nuvi 240LMT Central Europe. We remember a nuvi 140/150 which was a mod of 24x5/25x5 with built-in traffic receiver. RDS built-in traffic receiver and only essential serie functions is keywords for this model!?
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
Pay up G. [was a reasonable bet, but horse of same stable won ].
HWID 2077 is shared with 2xx7/2xx8 C4 US/EU. V8.30 is latest firmware version for that series:
Why don't you just connect it to GarminExpress and see what's offered for it?Code:Please Login or Register to see the links

The unit is full functional, but as i add Europe 2016.30 NTU UNLOCKED (already tested on another device and i am positive that map is UNlocked), the device gives error :
"Cannot unlock maps"
"Maps are corrupt and cannot be used. Go to..."
I thought i may find firmware and "treat" it with IMGPatcher and then write it back to device.
thanks
should i patch and flash this file nuvi2xx7and2xx8C4_830.gcdto my Nuvi 240 ?Code:Please Login or Register to see the links

Whether you download the GCD file from the Garmin link i gave earlier or from the Perry site you will get the exact same file, only difference being the name [from Garmin it's 'B2077000M.CGD' and from Perry it's 'nuvi2xx7and2xx8C4_830.gcd']. Both have MD5 hash of A17FC82419D30B49BC9920DD3C04119A.
If you wish to be absolutely sure that your 240 uses 2xx7/8 C4 firmware then do this:
(i) See if you have a file named 'GUPDATE.GCD' or 'gupdate.gcd' in your 240's .System folder. Check here how to find it if a folder named .System isn't visible: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
OR
(ii) If there isn't a GCD file in there, look in it's Garmin folder for GarminDevice.xml. Open it in a text editor [NotePad is fine for this], search for '<SoftwareVersion>' near the start of the file and change the 3 numerals following it to from '830' to '820' [no quotes], save that and without disconnecting from PC open [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and let it check for a software update for the unit. It will offer you V8.30, accept that and let it download GUPDATE.GCD to your device.
Move the gcd file to somewhere on your PC to work with, make a backup copy too, and then you can patch the gcd file to make 207701000830.rgn to flash in preboot [your unit's HWID has a GSV check in fw so initial patch cannot be done with a gcd file]. Carefully follow the instructions in initial post here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

nailed it !
the GUPDATE.GCD file from device had MD5 hash you specified but used Perry's file nuvi2xx7and2xx8C4_830.gcd
@Neil: thanks for making things clear
